Role-Playing : What to do and what to avoid doing
I'd like it for us to have this kind of guide as an announcement in the RP section, so that newbs get to read this and provide a better example of their RPing. I will use my soon to be character profile to provide examples of what NOT to do, and the better way of posting a bio/mission/spar post
1. Text Walls
When you are writing either solo mission, a post for a spar or a post for a group mission, you should avoid posting a wall of text, and space everything, to make it easier, and more attractive to any reader.
2. Try to avoid using .gifs or images to describe your actions
Use writing instead. You can describe way better with wording if you know what words to use, if you're unsure, ask either the mods, or someone you know who can help you with this. The use of gifs might sound attracting at first, but will only hinder the improvement of your Role Playing skills,
3. Use double quotes for character speech, even if you use bold tags to put it in evidence
This is a very simple thing that makes your intentions clearer to everyone around. The use of "" to mark your character's speech is something that is used by writers from all around to words to make a dialog section. We ask that you do the same
4. Avoid using 'He/she' or your character's name to refer to your character
This is something that most beginners at RPing do in their beginning. Try to use other words to refer to your character in your post. depending on your side, the words pirate or marine can be used, and your rank can be put along with that. If you repeat the pronoun or your character's name too often, it gets painful to read.
5. One Hit knockouts are allowed, but there are limits to that rule
A fleet admiral not winning in one hit against a Chore Boy would be ridiculous. A warrant officer Knocking out another warrant officer in one hit would be ridiculous too. That said, there are certain situations, in which, the enormous power difference, along with the kind of attack that allows one hit knockouts. More precisions will be added to this rule later on.
